Hello Subaru Winter Experience family! I’m really excited to welcome you to our third annual edition of SWE, coming this February and March 2020. Eagle River, Dollar Lake, and the Chanticleer Inn have really become a second home for me since we first launched the program two years ago, and I can’t wait to get back for this winter.

One of the questions I’ve been asked by many people over the past few years is what inspired me to start Subaru Winter Experience. The short answer is, I wanted to provide the same type of driver training in America, skill development on the ice and snow, that I grew up with in Sweden.

A lot of drivers start when they’re very young, but my motorsport career actually didn’t start until I was a teenager. That meant that the skills I developed on frozen lakes were even more valuable, and the car control I learned was a crucial part of getting me up to speed quickly. I learned how to manage weight transfer, the finesse of the Scandinavian flick, and the importance of taking care of my car. Those are all skills that you’ll learn at Subaru Winter Experience, whether you’re taking our introductory one-day course or spending multiple days with us.

Beyond that, we’ve got an amazing group of people on our team, and vehicles for our classes. DirtFish is on hand to help teach the courses and they’re the best instructors that anyone could possibly ask for. And the fleet of brand new WRXs, WRX STIs, and BRZs that Subaru of America provides for you to drive is second to none, too.

Our partner support from Subaru, DirtFish, and Kuhl is what allows us to take our vision to a higher level each and every year. For our returning participants, we’ve even got a set of new two-day and three-day advanced courses this year, where we’ll build on the foundations you learned in past visits to SWE or DirtFish. The three-day advanced course even finishes off with a 007-style handbrake turn and a rally stage, which I’m really excited to see!
